Farmlinks Golf Club Poised To Host 95th Men's State Amateur Championship

Tour-Quality Conditions for Alabama's Best Amateur Golfers

FarmLinks Golf Club at Pursell Farms, ranked as one of America's best by national media outlets, will host the 95th Men's State Amateur Championship, June 9-12, 2011.

The Championship will be conducted on a stroke play basis for 72 holes, 18 holes daily. There will be 156 players to begin play. After 36 holes the field will be reduced to the low 66 scores and ties for the final 36 holes of play.

Spectators are welcome during the state championship at FarmLinks - which is ranked the state's No. 1 course by Golfweek magazine - and there is no admission charge.

Known internationally as a proving ground for the industry's most advanced agronomic products and techniques, the 7,444-yard, Hurdzan-Fry-designed course is an exceptional venue for players of all abilities.

"FarmLinks is always in the best possible shape, something few courses can offer," says Mark Langner, FarmLinks Director of Agronomy and Applied Research. "We are proud to provide Alabama's top players with the best course and conditions, equivalent to the level at which the pros play."

Only 45 minutes from Birmingham, FarmLinks' championship, 18-hole layout is known for its mix of dramatic elevation changes, generous fairways and pristine greens. These course features may provide two-time defending champion Hunter Hamrick with what he requires to win a rare, third consecutive title.

"It's exciting to have players of Hamrick's caliber test themselves at FarmLinks," says David Pursell, FarmLinks Chief Executive Officer and Founder. "We know we're up to the challenge, and we're looking forward to a tremendous experience."

FarmLinks joins an esteemed list of past host courses for the Alabama Golf Association's Men's State Amateur Championship, including Willow Point Golf and Country Club, Birmingham Country Club, The Country Club of Mobile and Greystone Golf & Country Club. Past winners of the tournament include Stewart Cink, Hubert Green, Gardner Dickinson, Jr. and many other well-known players.
